Our client, a leading private non-profit healthcare provider in Lafayette CO, is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join their dynamic Accounts Receivable Team.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Your initial focus as a Medical Billing Specialist will be spearheading a billing clean-up project — and from there, ensuring billing accuracy and optimized collections for the team.
Day-to-day you will:
- Work high-volume claims (5K/month) — focus on denial management, payment posting, and follow-up
- Pull and analyze reports from platforms such as Availity and Trizetto
- Research errors, resolve billing issues, and manage re-bills
- Post payments accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate with internal and external contacts, including payors, to resolve account issues
- Manage tracking, research, and documentation in a shared spreadsheet environment
Key Responsibilities:

As a Medical Billing Specialist, process client income/eligibility verifications within 24 hours

Submit accurate claims and follow payer-specific billing processes

Follow-up on denials, past-due accounts, and aging reports

Research and resolve payment/billing discrepancies

Maintain accurate AR postings and ensure timely deposits
TOP TASKS (and % of time):
- Errors & Denials (50%) – Pull reports, analyze, and resolve errors and denials
- Payment Posting (40%) – Post high-volume payments accurately
- Project Work & Research (10%) – Support special projects, research payor issues, track progress
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Must-haves:
- 2-3 years of healthcare medical billing and collections experience
- Experience working high-volume claims
- Strong reconciliation and clean-up experience
- Eye for detail and accuracy
- Proficient with computerized billing systems
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Medicaid billing
- Familiarity with behavioral health billing
- Experience with electronic billing platforms
- Local Boulder area candidates strongly preferred
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will also need to maintain flexibility and adaptability as Medicaid processes evolve this summer.
