The Senior Payroll Coordinator will oversee payroll processing and compliance activities while supporting internal organizational stakeholders. This vital role ensures employees are paid accurately and in compliance with labor regulations.
As a Senior Payroll Coordinator, you will:
Interpret labor agreements and payroll legislation to ensure accurate pay, taxes, deductions, and benefits
Maintain employee payroll information, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date
Set up and manage all aspects of the district payroll system, including job and deduction codes
Process full-cycle payroll and reconcile all payroll-related allocations and remittances
Generate regular and ad hoc payroll reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual filings
Prepare payroll documentation for current and former employees as requested
Collaborate with HR and Labor Relations to accurately process employee status changes
Mentor junior staff and assist in managing daily payroll functions
Promote a positive, solutions-oriented team culture as a Senior Payroll Coordinator
To succeed as a Senior Payroll Coordinator, candidates should bring:
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field (preferred)
U.S. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation (a plus)
Strong understanding of payroll systems, general ledger, and job cost accounting
Experience in the construction industry (preferred)
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and organizational abilities
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll/accounting platforms
