Our client is a rapidly growing organization who are looking to add an Assistant Controller to their team. The organization has enjoyed incredible success in the last few years' and are seeking a candidate with a similar accounting background, ideally with a CPA and ERP experience to join the team in this newly created role.

Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be instrumental in achieving financial close, preparing financial reports and maintaining strong financial practices. In addition, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for recording assigned transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP policies and practices, preparing various financial reports, reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts and reviewing payroll. This is an integral role within a fast-moving and collaborative environment requiring assistance on multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to effectively meet tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Apply principles of accounting in accordance with GAAP standards to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.
G/L Accountant (75%)

− Assist with budgeting and cash flow projections
− Prepare assigned month-end journal entries
− Perform assigned G/L account reconciliations
− Work with and help process Sales related commission plans and related processing
− Maintain Fixed Asset Sub-ledger, capitalize assets per policy, book depreciation, prepare roll-forward schedules as required
− Prepare inter-company transactions and balance reports
− Prepare and reconcile intercompany billings
− Assist with the ERP system close month end close, verify cut-offs, verify inputs from subledgers, and prepare assigned journal entries
− Assist in preparing accurate accounting and financial reports for management
− Interface with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance
− Support month and year end close process
− Assist with tax audits and preparation of tax return supporting documents
− Assist with managing the accounting department
− Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
− Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
− Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

A/P Duties (20%)

− Supervise the activities of Accounts Payable
− Verify, allocate, post and reconcile Accounts Payable
− 3 Way Match for Materials - Invoice, Receiver & Packing Slip, & PO
− Blanket PO's (Not to Exceed, for various services and small misc. materials)
− Prepare month end expense accrual
− Supervise the activities of the Expense Report Processing utilizing Concur
− Oversee/Prepare 1099’s

A/R Duties (5%)

− Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts receivable


Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

− Strong critical thinking skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
− Basic knowledge of GAAP
− Strong computer skills plus extensive excel skillset including vlookups, pivot tables, databases, and functions; working knowledge of MS programs
− Experienced with NetSuite ERP or similar ERP accounting system
− Experienced with inventory reconciliations, roll forwards and financial accounting impact of sales and inventory related transactions.
− Experienced with ADP payroll systems
− Ability to do research, solve problems and perform analysis
− Strong aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills; excellent analytical skills
− Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy with transactional orientation
− Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines, maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments, and maintain a level of organization in a changing and fast paced environment
− Strong command of the English language
− Strong presentation as well as oral and written communication skills
