A highly respected, global nonprofit organization headquartered in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. The CFO will report directly to the President and CEO and play a critical role in shaping the organization’s financial future, while also overseeing IT systems, lending programs, and operational infrastructure.
This is a rare opportunity to lead financial operations at an internationally recognized organization with a legacy of serving vulnerable and displaced populations for over 80 years.
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team on long-term planning, funding priorities, and financial risk management.
Lead all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, audit, and reporting.
Manage and enhance systems for financial controls, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Act as primary liaison to the Board’s Finance & Investment and Audit Committees.
Oversee enterprise-wide IT and community lending operations.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and funder requirements (including federal grants).
Represent the organization in external financial negotiations and banking relationships.
Mentor and grow a high-performing team across finance and administrative functions.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or Master’s preferred.
10+ years in senior financial leadership, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting, government grants, and multi-entity reporting.
Experience with community development finance and/or lending operations is a plus.
Proven ability to lead organizational change and system improvements.
Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting to board members and stakeholders.
