Director of Finance – Insurance & Risk

Salary: $110,000–$120,000 base (with flexibility up to $140,000 for exceptional candidates) + up to 15% total bonus potential

Location: Frederick, MD (Onsite with future hybrid potential)

Key Responsibilities:

• Own all core accounting functions: GL, reconciliations, month-end close, budgeting, reporting
• Ensure accurate and timely statutory filings and compliance with insurance regulations
• Support board-level reporting, financial strategy, and investment oversight
• Manage financial operations for a newly launched Risk Retention Group (RRG)
• Work directly with the CEO to set up scalable financial systems and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Insurance Finance Experience: Must have worked in the insurance industry — specifically property & casualty, captive insurance, RRGs, or MGAs. Should understand risk frameworks, policy structures, and industry-specific compliance.
• Statutory Accounting Expertise: Must have directly prepared or overseen statutory filings. Deep knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements.
• QuickBooks Proficiency
