Job title: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: On-site in Akron, OH
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Salary: $35,360 to $41,600 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities (Medical Billing Specialist):

• Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies electronically and by paper

• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtain any missing information

• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe

• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount

• Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary

• Answer patient billing questions and resolve patient complaints or issues

• Update patient accounts and maintain accurate records

• Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits

• Work with collections agencies on past due accounts as needed

• Ensure HIPAA compliance in all billing activities

Qualifications (Medical Billing Specialist):

• High School diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in Medical Billing/Coding

• Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role

• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and Medicaid

• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding

• Strong understanding of the billing software (e.g. Epic, etc.)

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
