State and Local Tax Specialist:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable State and Local Tax (SALT) Specialist to join our tax team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations, managing tax filings, assisting with audits, and providing technical guidance on various SALT matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of state income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other local taxes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file state and local tax returns, including income/franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and property taxes.

• Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify planning opportunities.

• Assist with state and local tax audits and respond to information requests from tax authorities.

• Support indirect tax processes, including taxability determinations, exemption certificate management, and transaction tax compliance.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SALT laws and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 2+ years of relevant experience in state and local tax compliance or consulting.

• Knowledge of multi-state SALT issues, including nexus, apportionment, and taxability rules.

• Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE, CCH, or similar).

The State and Local Tax Specialist role is fully on-site in North Canton, OH with a pay range of $30 - $60 per hour depending on experience.
