Corporate Tax Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for assisting with various aspects of indirect tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all applicable tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, a passion for tax, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assist in the preparation of state and local indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, and related work papers and documentation.
• Assist with the calculation and remittance of indirect tax payments.
• Gather and analyze financial data for indirect tax reporting purposes.
• Maintain tax records and documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Assist with indirect tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Research tax laws and regulations related to indirect taxes to ensure compliance and identify potential tax savings opportunities.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as accounting and finance, to ensure accurate and timely indirect tax reporting.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
• Reconcile tax accounts and maintain accurate related general ledger balances.
• Support the tax team in identifying and implementing process improvements related to indirect tax processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in indirect tax accounting or public accounting, preferred.
• Understanding of state and local indirect tax laws and regulations, including sales and use tax.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
