💰 $120,000 – $130,000 + Bonus
Our client, a respected and growing construction firm in Pittsburgh, is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting operations. About the Role:
As Controller, you’ll oversee the full scope of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. From job costing and WIP tracking to budgeting and cash flow, you’ll play a critical role in guiding the financial health of the business while mentoring a small accounting team and partnering closely with operations.
Key Responsibilities of the Controller Role:

Manage daily accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

Oversee job costing and maintain detailed WIP schedules

Collaborate with project managers to track budgets, billings, and cost performance

Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory standards

Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external partners

Strengthen internal controls and enhance accounting procedures

Lead and develop a small accounting team

Contribute to system upgrades and process improvement initiatives

Deliver financial insights to support strategic business decisions
Preferred Qualifications of the Controller Role:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)

5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role

Prior experience in the construction industry is required

Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and construction accounting standards

Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Sage, Viewpoint, or similar preferred)
