Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Nashville, TN (Near Nashville International Airport)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $80,000–$90,000 base salary, with potential year-end bonus

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of a well-established equipment company based in Nashville. This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional who is ready to take on broader responsibilities and contribute to strategic financial initiatives. The Assistant Controller will work closely with leadership and oversee core accounting functions, including team supervision and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Supervise a small accounting team (3 direct reports)
• Oversee floor plan financing and ensure accurate reporting
• Lead month-end close and prepare financial statements
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Support external audits and ensure compliance with financial standards
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• 5–6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Industry experience in equipment, construction, or dealership environments strongly preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience with ERP systems (Texada or similar) is a plus
• Proactive and detail-oriented with a hands-on approach
