Junior Accountant – Hybrid in Sterling, VA!

About the Company and Opportunity:

• Our client is a non-profit organization located in Sterling, VA looking to inform, educate, and inspire our community!
• Due to growth, they are hiring a Junior Accountant to work hybrid!
• The leadership team is dedicated to employee success and love to promote from within.
• Pay: $22-$30/hr depending on experience. This position is temporary and can go permanent for the right candidate at a salary of 60K-80K depending on experience!

Overview of the Junior Accountant role:

• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly (including accounts payable, prepaids and other liability accounts) for monthly closing process.
• Transaction processing including invoices, cash receipts, credit cards, and collections.
• Maintains financial records for subsidiary companies by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
• Process expense reimbursements, international wires, and student award payments.
• Communicate with departments and vendors to resolve issues/discrepancies relating to invoices and payments.
• Prepare and enter journal entries for prepaids and month end invoice accruals.
• Maintain Vendor and Journal Entry files.
• Assist with financial audit as needed.

Preferred Qualifications for the Junior Accountant:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 1-3 years of accounting experience
• Advanced excel skills is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with a non-profit is preferred
