Position Overview

This consultant will play a critical role in supporting month-end close, cost accounting processes, and operational finance initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to partner cross-functionally across operations and finance.


Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Cost Accounting Support

  • Support a 4-4-5 close schedule, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist with June month-end activities

Product Costing

  • Partner with materials and operations teams to establish and maintain standard costs
  • Apply and validate overhead rates
  • Ensure costing data aligns with financial reporting
  • Perform monthly and ad hoc cost analysis

Inventory Accounting & Reconciliation

  • Perform sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations
  • Manage inventory valuation and reserve analysis (excess/obsolete)
  • Support FIFO/LIFO inventory methodologies

Operational KPI Reporting

  • Track and analyze key metrics including purchase price variance, overhead, and operational performance
  • Deliver actionable insights to support decision-making

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Operations, FP&A, and budget owners on forecasting, budgeting, and expense control
  • Provide financial guidance and analysis to support business initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

  • Senior-level experience in manufacturing cost accounting (high-volume environment)
  • Strong understanding of standard cost systems and cost refresh processes
  • Experience with inventory valuation, reserves, and reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to manage and analyze large datasets
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Prior management or leadership experience
  • Experience with SOX compliance
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Strong variance analysis experience
  • Experience with Oracle ERP
  • Familiarity with Power BI
  • Experience with FIFO/LIFO inventory methodologies
