Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
- Manage Accounts Payable processes including invoice coding, processing, and vendor communication
- Handle lien waivers, subcontractor compliance, and related documentation (core responsibility)
- Perform account reconciliations and support month-end close activities
- Investigate discrepancies, questionable transactions, and support internal controls
- Assist with job cost tracking and construction-related accounting processes
- Partner with leadership to improve workflows and prepare for audits
- Contribute to process improvements as the company continues to scale
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based environments
- Strong experience with lien waivers and subcontractor payment processes required
- Solid understanding of reconciliations and general accounting principles
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
