About the Opportunity

This position plays an important role in supporting the organization’s campaign and donor accounting functions, with a primary focus on accounts receivable processing, pledge tracking, collections support, and daily cash activity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and post daily cash receipts and donor payments
  • Download and reconcile daily banking activity and deposits
  • Ensure payments are applied correctly by donor account, transaction type, and campaign year
  • Review and balance deposits against accounting records
  • Maintain pledge receivable accounts and assist with collections follow-up
  • Enter cash receipt activity into the accounting system
  • Prepare donor statements, thank-you letters, invoices, and supporting reports
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues
  • Maintain donor and vendor records within the accounting system
  • Support monthly reconciliations and provide backup documentation to accounting leadership
  • Coordinate with internal departments regarding donor payments and pledge activity
  • Deliver professional, responsive customer service to donors, vendors, and internal staff
  • Assist with additional accounting and administrative projects as needed

Ideal Background

  • Accounting or accounts receivable experience in a professional office environment
  • Experience handling reconciliations, billing support, payment posting, and cash applications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Comfortable researching discrepancies and identifying solutions independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information professionally
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and accounting software
  • Experience with donor databases, nonprofit accounting, or fund accounting is helpful but not required
  • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
