Cost Accountant
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to support a manufacturing-focused accounting team during a transition period. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in maintaining accurate cost data and supporting day-to-day operations.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with operations, analyzing costs, and making an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant
- Support cost accounting activities within a manufacturing environment
- Assist with inventory valuation, cost tracking, and variance analysis
- Partner with operations to ensure accurate production cost reporting
- Contribute to month-end close, including reconciliations related to inventory and cost
- Help maintain and update standard costs
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting accuracy
Qualifications of the Cost Accountant
Required:
- 2–5+ years of accounting experience (cost or inventory experience preferred)
- Exposure to manufacturing, inventory, or operational accounting
- Understanding of cost tracking, inventory, and variances
- Ability to work on-site Monday–Friday
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
Preferred:
- Experience with standard costing or bill of materials (BOM)
- Exposure to fixed assets or plant accounting
- ERP system experience (Oracle or similar a plus)
- Intermediate Excel skills
