Our client is seeking a handson Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing, missiondriven non-profit organization in Howard County. This Controller is a highly visible role offering direct access to the Executive Director and Board, with meaningful influence over financial strategy, operations, and longterm growth.

This position is onsite 5 days/week, but does offer flexibility when needed to work from home!

Controller Job Duties:

  • Oversee all accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and interim financial reports
  • Ensure GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Manage monthly close, general ledger, debt service, taxes, and insurance
  • Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and Medicare Cost Report
  • Lead, develop, and support the finance team
  • Serve as a trusted partner to leadership and the Board

Controller Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, etc.
  • CPA
  • 8-10+years progressive accounting experience with proven management experience
  • Non-profit industry experience
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial leadership experience
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion
  • Detail‑oriented, accurate, and collaborative communicator
