Our client is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing, mission‑driven non-profit organization in Howard County. This Controller is a highly visible role offering direct access to the Executive Director and Board, with meaningful influence over financial strategy, operations, and long‑term growth.
This position is onsite 5 days/week, but does offer flexibility when needed to work from home!

Controller Job Duties:
- Oversee all accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis
- Prepare annual operating budgets and interim financial reports
- Ensure GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and audit readiness
- Manage monthly close, general ledger, debt service, taxes, and insurance
- Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and Medicare Cost Report
- Lead, develop, and support the finance team
- Serve as a trusted partner to leadership and the Board
Controller Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, etc.
- CPA
- 8-10+years progressive accounting experience with proven management experience
- Non-profit industry experience
- Strong GAAP knowledge and financial leadership experience
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion
- Detail‑oriented, accurate, and collaborative communicator
