About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established CPA firm in Nanuet, NY, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This role offers exposure to a diverse client base across industries, including closely held businesses, nonprofits, and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven public accounting environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements for a variety of client entities
- Perform complex general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for clients
- Assist with tax preparation support, including corporate and individual returns
- Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting and financial reporting needs
- Support audit and assurance engagements as needed
- Research and resolve technical accounting issues
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff accountants
- Identify opportunities to improve client accounting processes and efficiencies
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with tax preparation and/or audit support
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, CCH, ProSystem fx, or similar)
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
