Purchasing Agent
Location: Pompano Beach, FL (On-Site)
Salary Range: $54,000-$62,000
The Procurement Agent plays a key role in supporting the company’s profitability by sourcing high-quality materials and services at competitive costs. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong business judgment, market awareness, and the ability to assess suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and build long-term vendor partnerships. The ideal candidate will understand purchasing strategies, evaluate market conditions, and ensure the timely acquisition of essential supplies that support successful business operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to procure goods and services, including raw materials, purchased products, sales and marketing materials, and general company supplies.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders by reviewing product specifications, quantities, pricing, and delivery requirements.
- Investigate and resolve supplier-related issues, including shipment discrepancies, pricing errors, and delivery concerns in a timely manner.
- Process miscellaneous purchases within the company system and provide required documentation to the Accounts Payable department.
- Maintain accurate and organized purchasing records, files, and documentation.
- Assess and qualify suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, availability, and other company-specific requirements.
- Identify and evaluate new suppliers to improve sourcing options, reduce supply risks, and secure competitive pricing.
- Negotiate and regularly review vendor contracts, pricing agreements, and terms to achieve the best possible value for the company.
- Review purchasing decisions and recommend cost-effective alternatives when products are overpriced, unnecessary, or no longer suitable.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding delivery schedules and assist in resolving shipping or fulfillment issues.
- Analyze raw material needs to optimize purchasing quantities, take advantage of volume discounts, and reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
- Establish and maintain lead times for standard production materials and supplies to support operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, vendor management, or a related role.
- Proven ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier terms effectively.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, market research, supplier evaluation, and purchasing best practices.
- Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
