Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
- Perform monthly bank, general ledger, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Prepare financial reports and assist with variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
- Support regulatory reporting and financial compliance requirements.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the banking, credit union, or financial services industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements.
- CPA designation or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply.
