Key Responsibilities of the Controller
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and executive reporting packages
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
- Manage annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Oversee cash management, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting accuracy
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
- Drive process improvements, automation, and accounting system enhancements
- Develop accounting policies and procedures to support organizational growth
- Mentor and provide leadership across the accounting function while building a high-performing team
- Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and other special projects as needed
Qualifications for the Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation
- Experience leading month-end close, audits, and process improvement initiatives
- Healthcare, diagnostics, biotechnology, life sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience is a plus
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and partner cross-functionally
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
