Key Responsibilities of the Controller

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and executive reporting packages
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
  • Manage annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
  • Oversee cash management, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting accuracy
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and accounting system enhancements
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures to support organizational growth
  • Mentor and provide leadership across the accounting function while building a high-performing team
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and other special projects as needed

Qualifications for the Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience leading month-end close, audits, and process improvement initiatives
  • Healthcare, diagnostics, biotechnology, life sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and partner cross-functionally
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
