Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist
Location: Goshen, IN (Fully Onsite)
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist to take full ownership of the BOM creation and maintenance process in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into product details, validating every component, and ensuring manufacturing data is accurate from start to finish. You’ll work closely with engineering, production, and operations to create complete and accurate Bills of Materials while spending time on the production floor verifying how products are built.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete Bill of Materials (BOM) writing process from initial product breakdown through final implementation.
- Analyze products and part out every component, material, and assembly with a high degree of accuracy.
- Create, maintain, and update BOMs within Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
- Validate product configurations by working directly with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Spend time on the production floor inspecting products, verifying materials, and ensuring BOM accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve BOM discrepancies, part issues, and engineering changes.
- Ensure product data integrity and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support engineering change notices (ECNs), product launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with purchasing, production, and finance to ensure accurate costing and manufacturing data.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Bill of Materials (BOM) experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials from the ground up.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics ERP is required.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and resolve complex issues.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product structures.
- Comfortable working on the production floor, including working in tight spaces to inspect products and verify components.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to ownership.
