HR MANAGER

$80,000- $90,000 + Bonus
The HR Manager will oversee day-to-day human resources operations and serve as a trusted resource to employees and leadership on employee relations, recruiting, compliance, training, and HR policies and procedures. This role will help ensure a positive, productive workplace while maintaining compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies.
The ideal candidate will have strong HR generalist experience, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Experience supporting a manufacturing workforce and union employees is highly preferred.
OVERVIEW OF THE HR MANAGER ROLE:
- Manage and support day-to-day HR operations, policies, processes, and initiatives.
- Supervise and develop HR team members, including the HR Coordinator, providing coaching, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Serve as a primary point of contact and escalation resource for employee relations matters, providing guidance to employees and managers.
- Conduct initial investigations into employee complaints, workplace concerns, and policy violations; recommend appropriate resolutions and escalate complex matters as needed.
- Partner with leadership to address employee relations issues consistently, fairly, and in accordance with company policies.
- Manage the full-cycle recruiting process, including developing job postings, reviewing resumes, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and facilitating interview follow-up.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation programs, as well as employee training and departmental training initiatives.
- Develop, update, and maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, training materials, and presentations.
- Ensure personnel records and the HRIS are accurate, current, and compliant, including employee information, job changes, certifications, licenses, training, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
- Oversee the preparation and processing of Personnel Action Forms for new hires, transfers, compensation changes, merit increases, promotions, and terminations.
- Partner with the Director of HR on reviewing and updating job descriptions and evaluating positions as responsibilities evolve.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Stay current on HR best practices, employment legislation, and industry trends through professional development, educational programs, workshops, and relevant resources.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
- Collaborate effectively with employees, managers, leadership, and external partners.
- Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE HR MANAGER:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Previous HR Manager or HR leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting HR operations in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working with unionized employees and labor-related matters strongly preferred.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
