Assistant Controller

Location: Rancho Cucamonga, California
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 per year

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Controller to join our growing manufacturing organization in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This position will play a critical role in the accounting and finance function, supporting the Controller while taking ownership of key financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting activities.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years of recent manufacturing experience, along with strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where the ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work closely with operations and leadership will be essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Controller with the overall financial management and accounting operations of the organization.

  • Take a hands-on role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.

  • Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and communicate key findings to leadership.

  • Prepare detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities.

  • Work closely with Operations and other business leaders to understand financial performance and business drivers.

  • Provide financial analysis and reporting related to manufacturing operations, inventory, costs, margins, and profitability.

  • Assist with the development and improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility.

  • Support audits and provide requested financial schedules and documentation.

  • Assist the Controller with special projects, process improvements, and strategic financial initiatives.

  • Serve as a key resource for accounting staff and help ensure accounting policies and procedures are consistently followed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.

  • 2+ years of recent experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and management reporting.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.

  • Experience analyzing financial performance, variances, costs, and operational results.

  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • CPA, CMA, or advanced degree is a plus but not required.
