Assistant Controller
Location: Rancho Cucamonga, California
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 per year
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Controller to join our growing manufacturing organization in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This position will play a critical role in the accounting and finance function, supporting the Controller while taking ownership of key financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting activities.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years of recent manufacturing experience, along with strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where the ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work closely with operations and leadership will be essential.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Controller with the overall financial management and accounting operations of the organization.

Take a hands-on role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.

Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.

Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and communicate key findings to leadership.

Prepare detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.

Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities.

Work closely with Operations and other business leaders to understand financial performance and business drivers.

Provide financial analysis and reporting related to manufacturing operations, inventory, costs, margins, and profitability.

Assist with the development and improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures.

Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility.

Support audits and provide requested financial schedules and documentation.

Assist the Controller with special projects, process improvements, and strategic financial initiatives.

Serve as a key resource for accounting staff and help ensure accounting policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Qualifications

5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.

2+ years of recent experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and financial reporting.

Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and management reporting.

Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.

Experience analyzing financial performance, variances, costs, and operational results.

Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.

Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

CPA, CMA, or advanced degree is a plus but not required.
