Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
- Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports as the Staff Accountant
- Perform account reconciliations, financial analyses, and variance investigations as the Staff Accountant
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor management as the Staff Accountant
- Support accounts receivable, billing, collections, and account reconciliations as the Staff Accountant
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes as the Staff Accountant
- Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors as the Staff Accountant
- Monitor budgets and support ongoing financial planning activities as the Staff Accountant
- Research accounting discrepancies, maintain internal controls, and support process improvements as the Staff Accountant
- Communicate with clients and external stakeholders regarding financial matters as the Staff Accountant
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 2–3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with financial statements, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close
- Government, fund accounting, professional services, or public accounting experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
