Strategic Transformation Manager – What Are They Looking For?
- Strategic, hands-on internal consultant who can assess a business problem, develop a solution, gain stakeholder alignment, and execute.
- Strong cross-functional project leadership across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, and other functions.
- Someone comfortable with ambiguity who can create structure where processes may not currently exist.
- Ability to influence across the organization without direct authority.
- Must be able to independently analyze data and create executive-ready PowerPoint presentations, dashboards, and recommendations.
- Consulting/professional services experience strongly preferred; Engineering background is a major plus.
Strategic Transformation Manager – Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Identify operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Define project scope, timelines, milestones, resources, budgets, and success metrics.
- Establish and improve PMO methodologies, governance, templates, and project-management processes.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, competing priorities, and stakeholder alignment.
- Develop KPI dashboards, executive reporting, and scenario analyses to support decision-making.
- Translate business data into actionable recommendations and improvement initiatives.
- Create executive-level presentations and communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations.
- Drive accountability and execution across teams without direct reporting authority.
Strategic Transformation Manager – Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in business transformation, strategic projects, consulting, operations, project management, or related functions.
- Ideally 2+ years of consulting or professional services experience.
- Experience within industrial services, manufacturing, chemicals, environmental services, engineering, supply chain, or another operationally complex business preferred.
- Proven experience independently leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, PowerPoint, and executive communication skills.
- Must be hands-on, coachable, adaptable, ambitious, and comfortable operating independently.
