A growing organization in the Hamden area is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with previous AP experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and managing a variety of day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining accurate vendor records, managing payments, and supporting the overall accounting function. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

Process and enter vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation

Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents as needed

Prepare and process vendor payments in accordance with established schedules

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies

Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payment status, and outstanding issues

Maintain accurate accounts payable records and documentation

Assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations

Support expense tracking and reporting as needed

Identify opportunities to improve AP processes and workflows

Assist with additional accounting tasks and special projects as needed
Qualifications

2–4 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience

Understanding of general accounting principles and invoice processing

Experience with accounting software or an ERP system

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
