How to Be Successful in Your New Role

By cfstaffingadmin | Career Tips | Comments are Closed | 25 July, 2019 | 1

Congratulations! You’ve made it past the interview stage and you’re preparing for your first day! Starting something new can be overwhelming but we have just what you need to be successful! Here are a few things to keep in mind as you start your new role!

Introduce Yourself

It’s important to get to know the people on your team since you will be working closely with them. Your first day is your chance to make a good impression so smile when you meet new people and make an effort to introduce yourself to everyone! You want to make sure people know how happy and excited you are to be there!

Ask Questions

Don’t be shy! Ask questions and learn as much as you can especially during those first couple of weeks! It can be a little intimidating to ask for help when you first start, but don’t let that stop you. This is the perfect time to do so! Your manager is eager to teach you and will take note that you are excited to learn.

Set Goals

During the first few weeks of your new job, it is important to clarify the goals and expectations that have been set for you. Defining these goals and expectations with your manager will help you be more productive and keep you motivated! Talk to your manager so that you are both on the same page when it comes to your daily and monthly tasks.

Schedule a Review

Scheduling a review is a simple way to check in with your manager and your chance to ask for feedback. Taking this initiative shows that you are interested in learning more and always seeking ways to improve your work. You can utilize this feedback to reflect on your work, create a plan for the coming months and set new goals for yourself.

Work Hard

Challenge yourself, set ambitious goals, and work towards successfully completing those goals. Just because you have the job doesn’t mean you can slack off. Be sure to always put your best foot forward. You want to show that you are ready for any project that comes your way!
