This summer Creative Financial Staffing, along with our Technology division, welcomed five new CFS recruiting interns from the South Bend, IN area. The CFS internship program offers clients fresh talent and a new perspective, while candidates gain real-world experience and the ability to develop their skills.

Over the course of the summer, our interns have been supporting multiple CFS offices across the country. Learn more about their background and their interests below.

Don’t forget to follow along as they take over our Instagram @cfstaffing throughout the coming weeks!

Question: Where do you go to school and what do you study?

Courtney North: I am studying Human Resource Management at Indiana University Bloomington.

Thomas Eggleston: I attend Purdue University and I major in Actuarial Science and Statistics.

Brianna Kehoe: I go to Purdue University and am studying Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.

Michael Forrester: I go to Indiana University and I study Human Resources.

Allison Hein: I go to Purdue University where I’m studying Biomedical Health Sciences with a pre-medicine concentration.

Courtney North

Question: What interested you in this internship?

Courtney North: What interested me in this internship was the idea that I would be getting hands-on experience in the recruiting field. I was interested in the opportunity to talk to people daily, learn how to interview, and look at candidates’ resumes!

Thomas Eggleston: I was interested in this internship because it offered me an opportunity to develop communication skills as well as network with people that would not typically be in my network.

Brianna Kehoe: I was interested in the experience I would gain by looking through resumes, contacting candidates, talking to them over the phone, sitting in on interviews, and creating job ads. I was also interested in getting experience outside of a medical setting for a change.

Michael Forrester: I saw correlations between what I am studying in school and what CFS does and thought this internship would sharpen my skills and give me experience in the business world.

Allison Hein: What interested me most about this internship was the ability to network and improve my communication skills. A major part of this internship is relaying information between candidates and staffing managers through phone calls and emails.

Thomas Eggleston

Question: What skills have you found are needed to be successful in this position?

Courtney North: The skills that I have found are necessary and that I will take away are communication, active listening, and organization. I have drastically increased my communication and listening skills by calling candidates on the phone and listening to what they have to say!

Thomas Eggleston: I have learned that to be successful in this position, you must stay organized. Another skill that I found beneficial is time management. Without these two skills, I would be unable to keep track of the tasks that I need to complete.

Brianna Kehoe: One of the main skills necessary for this position is communication. When speaking on the phone with candidates, it is extremely crucial to communicate clearly with them to make sure that we can place them in a position that is the best fit for them as well as the companies we work with.

Michael Forrester: Some crucial skills I have found that impact my success in this role are my communication, networking, and organization skills.

Allison Hein: Communication skills are essential. Along with communication, I have learned a lot about using new software and have improved my knowledge of the software that I was already familiar with.

Brianna Kehoe

Question: How do you think this internship will help you achieve your five-year goal?

Courtney North: I believe that this internship will help me achieve my five-year goal in many ways. My major is HR, so it was important to find an internship that would align with my future. Now having experience under my belt, I am better prepared and have the proper HR experience as I look for jobs when I graduate.

Thomas Eggleston: I believe this internship will help me achieve my five-year goal because it has made me dramatically more comfortable speaking with people I do not know. When the internship began, I was worried about having to talk on the phone. Now I am very comfortable talking to people and I believe that can help me in future interviews and in my career long-term. Additionally, being more confident in my people skills leads to stronger teamwork skills, which has its own set of benefits.

Brianna Kehoe: Not only has this internship given me the necessary experience in my profession but it has taught me how important it is to work for a company that genuinely cares for its employees, as CFS does. I have been able to make so many connections through this internship and meet outstanding people. I now know what I will look for in a company in the future.

Michael Forrester: This internship will help my five-year goal because it gives me a deeper look into the business world and what it is like working with clients and candidates. Learning the inner workings of the interview process will help me in the long run as well. Additionally, I have made so many connections at CFS across the country, the networking has been incredible.

Allison Hein: This internship has allowed me to experience how recruiting works and has given me a better idea of the type of career I am targeting. Sitting in on interviews and reviewing resumes has also given me the chance to better my own presentation skills, which will help tremendously when I am on the job hunt.

Michael Forrester

Question: What are your hobbies outside of work?

Courtney North: Outside of work, my hobbies include listening to music, working out, and jet skiing.

Thomas Eggleston: When I am not working, I like spending time on the lake and hiking at Turkey Run State Park.

Brianna Kehoe: Outside of work, I love going to the beach, hanging out with friends, shopping, and spending time with my niece and nephew!

Michael Forrester: My hobbies outside of work include playing golf and watching the Chicago Bears on Sundays.

Allison Hein: Outside of work, I like to work out, hang out with friends, and discover new music!
