Accountant / Staff Accountant
Location: Greater Waterbury Area, CT
Job Type: Temporary / Contract
Pay: $25–$28/hour
We are currently assisting an established organization in the Greater Waterbury area with their search for an Accountant / Staff Accountant to provide support to their accounting department on a temporary basis. This is a solid opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a structured environment and is looking to put their accounting knowledge to use.
Position Overview
In this role, you will assist with a variety of general accounting functions and help ensure financial information is maintained accurately and efficiently. The position will provide exposure to day-to-day accounting activities, reconciliations, reporting, and other departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities

Record and maintain financial transactions and accounting records

Prepare journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance

Complete bank and account reconciliations

Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities

Help prepare financial reports and supporting schedules

Review transactions and research discrepancies as needed

Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

Assist with audit-related requests and documentation

Maintain organized and accurate financial records

Provide additional accounting support and assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

Prior experience in an accounting or finance-related position

Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices

Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel

Good organizational and time-management skills

Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
