ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

We’re seeking a hardworking, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support a growing nonprofit organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning, collaborating with a team, and contributing to the day-to-day financial operations of a mission-driven organization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

  • Manage the full Accounts Payable cycle, including processing checks and ACH payments and reconciling receipts

  • Review, code, and enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper approvals and accurate vendor records

  • The Accounting Specialist will process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions and review vendor statements for discrepancies

  • Record daily deposits and incoming payments, reconcile bank accounts, and assist with month-end and year-end close activities

  • Track grants and donations and maintain accurate documentation related to fund usage

  • The Accounting Specialist will prepare schedules, documentation, and reports for internal and external audits

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows

  • The Accounting Specialist will assist with special projects and provide support to the broader finance team as needed

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN AN ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

  • Accounting degree and relevant accounting experience

  • QuickBooks Desktop experience is a plus; training is available

  • Knowledge of general ledger processes, reconciliations, and basic AP/AR procedures

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Collaborative approach and willingness to learn

  • Exposure to grant tracking or nonprofit accounting is a plus
