What You’ll Do as the Controller
Own Financial Operations & Strategy
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities with accuracy and consistency
- Deliver clear, actionable financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs, variance analysis)
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive and operational teams
Drive Project Accounting Excellence
- Oversee percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, including WIP schedules and revenue recognition
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasts, and margins
- Strengthen processes around job costing, change orders, and project profitability
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and industry standards
Lead & Scale a Multi-State Finance Function
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals across multiple locations
- Standardize processes, policies, and reporting across entities
- Travel periodically (approx. 10–12 times/year) to build alignment and relationships
Modernize Systems & Unlock Better Insights
- Evaluate, select, and implement ERP and financial systems to support growth
- Build Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that bring data to life
- Leverage automation and AI to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
- Integrate systems across finance, operations, and project management
Strengthen Controls & Compliance
- Design and maintain internal controls and best practices
- Serve as finance lead for banking and surety relationships
- Oversee multi-state tax compliance and external audit coordination
- Translate financial data into insights that drive smarter business decisions
What You Bring as a Controller
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership (Controller or ready-now Assistant Controller)
- Experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments
- Strong expertise in POC accounting, WIP, and project-based financials
- Proven success with ERP implementation or system upgrades
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar reporting tools
- Solid understanding of GAAP and ASC 606
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication skills — able to simplify financials for non-finance stakeholders
Bonus Points
- CPA or CMA
- Background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries
- Experience integrating systems across ERP, CRM, and project management tools
- Familiarity with surety bonding or credit facility reporting
- Exposure to AI-driven finance tools or automation

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $125,000 – $155,000 (DOE)
