Salary: $150k-$180k
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for a growing organization. This role will oversee the accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial information while supporting continued growth and scalability.
The Controller will partner closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, audits, compliance, and strategic financial initiatives while maintaining ownership of the accounting team and daily operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll accounting support.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and documentation.
- Prepare financial statements and reporting packages for leadership.
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting.
- Oversee sales tax, GST, and other applicable compliance requirements.
- Support project cost accounting, capital asset tracking, and operational financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, automation, and scalability.
- Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and ERP platforms.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team as the organization continues to grow.
- Partner cross-functionally with operational leaders to support financial accuracy and accountability.
- Support due diligence, fundraising activities, and other special financial projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership experience preferred.
- Strong experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience overseeing AP, AR, payroll accounting support, and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Multi-entity and/or multi-jurisdictional experience preferred.
- Experience supporting external audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting.
