Overview
Our client, a rapidly growing healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and develop a growing team. This Controller role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys process improvement, mentoring staff, and driving financial reporting excellence in a complex, multi-entity environment.
The Controller will play a critical role in standardizing workflows, enhancing internal controls, improving reporting accuracy, and supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven financial analysis. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact while partnering closely with executive leadership.
Responsibilities
The Controller will be responsible for:
- Leading all day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close processes
- Driving process improvement initiatives and documenting accounting procedures
- Strengthening internal controls and ensuring adherence to GAAP standards
- Mentoring, training, and developing accounting team members across multiple levels
- Managing financial reporting and analysis for a large, multi-department organization
- Overseeing revenue recognition and ensuring timely, accurate reporting
- Analyzing historical financial data to identify trends, efficiencies, and business insights
- Supporting cost accounting efforts, departmental allocations, and profitability analysis
- Reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Collaborating with finance leadership to improve reporting capabilities and operational efficiencies
- Assisting with future system enhancements and technology-driven process improvements
Core Competencies & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare accounting experience
- Progressive leadership experience within accounting and finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with cost accounting and complex allocation methodologies
- Ability to analyze large data sets and provide actionable business insights
- Proven success implementing process improvements and strengthening controls
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work in the details when needed
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Sage ERP systems
- Familiarity with Epic or healthcare-related ERP/EMR systems
- Experience utilizing Power BI, Power Query, or Power Pivot
- Background supporting multi-location or multi-business-unit organizations
- Experience preparing and analyzing healthcare cost reports

Compensation
- Salary range: $150,000 – $170,000, depending on experience and qualifications
