Controller – Nonprofit
Portland, OR | Hybrid | $125,000–$145,000
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who understands the unique needs of nonprofit finance and enjoys partnering with leadership to support organizational growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee the month-end and year-end close processes
- Manage general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cash management
- Prepare and present financial statements and reports to senior leadership and the Board
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support annual audits, tax filings, and other external reporting
- Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and procedures
- Lead and develop the accounting team
Qualifications
- Nonprofit accounting experience is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Controller or senior-level accounting leadership experience
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting, audits, and internal controls
