About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly analytical Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in LaPorte, Indiana. This position plays a key role in partnering with operations and leadership to improve profitability through detailed cost analysis, margin reporting, pricing strategy, and forecasting. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and thrives on turning financial data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, and production variances to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and operational improvements.
- Prepare and maintain monthly cost reports, inventory analysis, standard costing, and financial reporting related to manufacturing operations.
- Partner closely with operations, production, and supply chain teams to evaluate manufacturing performance, improve efficiencies, and optimize cost structures.
- Support pricing strategy through profitability analysis, product costing, and margin evaluations to assist leadership with strategic decision-making.
- Develop forecasts and assist with annual budgeting, providing detailed financial analysis and recommendations.
- Monitor inventory transactions, manufacturing variances, and cost allocations while ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in margin analysis, variance reporting, standard costing, and inventory accounting.
- Experience supporting pricing analysis and pricing strategy initiatives.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and provide meaningful business insights.
- Experience collaborating with operations and manufacturing leadership to improve financial and operational performance.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and operational teams.
