Key Responsibilities for the Cost Accountant:

  • Maintain and analyze standard costing, inventory valuation, and product costing processes
  • Prepare inventory reconciliations, cost analyses, and journal entries
  • Support month-end close activities related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and cost of goods sold
  • Analyze labor, material, and overhead variances and provide actionable recommendations
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve cost visibility and operational performance
  • Assist with standard cost updates, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Support inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, and audit requirements
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements
  • Prepare financial reports and ad hoc analysis for leadership

Qualifications for the Cost Accountant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3-5 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost of goods sold
  • Experience supporting month-end close, inventory reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
