Key Responsibilities

  • The Grant Accountant will manage accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of state and federal grants.
  • Prepare grant budgets, budget-to-actual analyses, and financial reports as a Grant Accountant.
  • Review grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funding requirements while serving as a Grant Accountant.
  • The Grant Accountant will prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities.
  • Analyze accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve accounting issues as a Grant Accountant.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support grant-related budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • The Grant Accountant will monitor grant activity to ensure financial accuracy and proper reporting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Grant Accountant or in a hands-on grant accounting role is required.
  • The ideal Grant Accountant will possess strong full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close and journal entries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; Finance degree considered for an experienced Grant Accountant.
  • Advanced Excel skills are required for the Grant Accountant, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.
  • Experience managing state and/or federal grants is strongly preferred for the Grant Accountant.
  • Knowledge of Abila MIP or similar nonprofit accounting software is preferred for the Grant Accountant.
  • The Grant Accountant must currently reside in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
  • The successful Grant Accountant must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
