HR Leave Specialist

Position Overview

This is a highly hands-on role focused on leave administration, compliance, and coordination, supporting a workforce that includes both classified and licensed employees. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and confident navigating complex leave regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leave Administration & Compliance
    Manage employee leaves including FMLA, OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon, and Workers’ Compensation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and collective bargaining agreement requirements
  • Employee Communication & Coordination
    Respond to incoming emails and phone calls related to leave inquiries, providing clear guidance and timely follow-up to employees and stakeholders
  • Leave Tracking & Workforce Coordination
    Balance and track leave across different employee groups, coordinating with payroll and maintaining accurate work calendars
  • Claims Processing & Documentation
    Support the progression of leave claims, partner with third-party administrators for Paid Leave Oregon, and maintain accurate documentation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing employee leaves of absence (FMLA, state leave programs, workers’ comp)
  • Strong understanding of federal and state leave laws and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with multiple employee groups, ideally in union or structured environments
  • Proficiency in Excel and HR systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • HR certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.)
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements

$70,000 – $80,000
