Part-Time Controller
We are seeking a seasoned Part-Time controller to provide part-time, hands-on financial leadership for a growing manufacturing company in growth mode. This on-site role is designed to support an accounting department by relieving workload and providing senior-level guidance, structure, and process improvement as the business scales.
Role Overview
The Part-time Controller will work closely on technical accounting tasks, month-end close, perform analysis and strengthen core accounting processes. This is a highly collaborative position suited for someone who values competence, honesty, and practical problem-solving over formality or hierarchy.
Key Responsibilities
As Part-Time Controller, primary responsibilities include:

Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and margin analysis (30%)
Evaluate manufacturing costs, analyze margins for bids, and pull and present data from Bills of Materials (BoM) to support pricing and decision-making. -
Month-End Close guidance and improvement (30%)
Provide oversight, review, and process improvements for the month-end close to increase efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. -
Budget analysis and real-time updates (20%)
Support ongoing budget maintenance, variance analysis, and financial updates that inform leadership decisions. -
Process and system optimization (20%)
Identify opportunities to better utilize QuickBooks Online and the company’s existing ERP system for purchase orders and receipt reconciliation.
This Part-Time Controller role is intentionally hands-on, balancing execution with advisory support to improve current-state processes.
Collaboration & Working Style
The interim controller partners directly with the company’s finance lead to provide senior-level perspective, technical guidance, and mentorship. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, a willingness to dive into details, and comfort working in a lean, evolving environment.

Must-Have Qualifications
- Significant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems, including preparation of P&L and balance sheet reporting
- Demonstrated experience with COGS analysis and margin evaluation
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and structured financial analysis
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Experience with contracts and revenue recognition
- Familiarity with ERP systems supporting purchasing and inventory workflows
- Formal education in accounting or finance (or equivalent experience)
