Staff Accountant | Shelton, CT

Target Compensation: $52K–$57K

We are currently working with a well-established organization in the Waterbury area that is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional looking to utilize their skills in a stable, professional environment while gaining exposure to a variety of accounting functions.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations and assist with maintaining accurate financial records. This position will work closely with the accounting team on general ledger activities, reconciliations, reporting, and other accounting-related responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Assist with monthly and year-end close processes
  • Perform account and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis
  • Review and maintain accurate accounting records
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
  • Support audits and provide documentation as requested
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Assist with other accounting projects and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles
  • Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
