Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state employee population as the Payroll Manager
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations while maintaining accurate payroll records as the Payroll Manager
- Oversee payroll audits, tax filings, garnishments, benefits deductions, and related reporting requirements as the Payroll Manager
- Reconcile payroll accounts and support month-end and year-end close activities as the Payroll Manager
- Maintain, optimize, and enhance payroll systems, processes, internal controls, and documentation as the Payroll Manager
- Partner with HR, Finance, and leadership teams to support strategic initiatives and employee-related matters as the Payroll Manager
- Lead, mentor, and support payroll staff while promoting accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement as the Payroll Manager
Qualifications for the Payroll Manager
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including leadership, supervisory, or management responsibilities
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, garnishments, and payroll best practices
- Experience with payroll platforms such as ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
