Overview of the Payroll Specialist Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to oversee accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting payroll compliance and employee inquiries. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to join a stable organization with a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist:
- Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, and employee deductions
- Review and reconcile payroll reports, timecards, and benefit deductions
- Coordinate payroll-related tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s
- Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies
- Support benefits administration and payroll audits as needed
- Assist with workers’ compensation reporting and leave tracking
- Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and payroll records
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information
Preferred Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience required
- Knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and wage and hour compliance
- Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
