Overview of the Payroll Specialist Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to oversee accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting payroll compliance and employee inquiries. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to join a stable organization with a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist:

  • Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, and employee deductions
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, timecards, and benefit deductions
  • Coordinate payroll-related tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies
  • Support benefits administration and payroll audits as needed
  • Assist with workers’ compensation reporting and leave tracking
  • Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and payroll records
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information

Preferred Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience required
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and wage and hour compliance
  • Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
