Key Responsibilities for the Property Accountant:

  • Manage the full-cycle accounting process for an assigned portfolio of multifamily properties
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Perform month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Monitor cash flow, forecast cash needs, and oversee property-level banking activity
  • Calculate and process management fees, owner distributions, accruals, and reclasses
  • Partner with on-site property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Analyze financial statements and provide commentary and insights to leadership
  • Monitor lender escrows, replacement reserves, debt service, and other property obligations
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, audits, and special projects
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, and onboarding of new properties

Qualifications for the Property Accountant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3+ years of property accounting experience required
  • Experience managing the full accounting cycle for multiple properties
  • Experience with Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar property accounting software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
