Regional Finance Leader – Construction

This is a high-impact, business-facing finance leadership role with full ownership of regional financial performance and direct partnership with operations. Position Overview
This is not a traditional Controller role.
The Regional Finance Leader serves as the financial partner to the business, acting as the right hand to the Regional VP and owning all financial operations across the region. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations, with responsibility for:
- Regional P&L and Balance Sheet
- Financial performance across projects
- Budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Risk evaluation and contract support
You will be deeply embedded with project teams, helping drive profitability, accountability, and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all regional financial operations, ensuring strong controls, accuracy, and compliance
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting
- Oversee and analyze:
- Job costing
- WIP / percentage-of-completion accounting
- Project forecasting and margin performance
- Partner with Regional VP and project teams to maximize project profitability
- Evaluate financial risk on new work, including contracts and exposure
- Manage subcontractor financial relationships, payments, and risk
- Serve as liaison to sureties and oversee bonding-related processes
- Support regional tax compliance and regulatory requirements
- Lead, develop, and scale the regional finance team
- Drive process improvements, automation, and financial system enhancements
What We’re Looking For
- 8–15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Strong background in construction or AEC industry (required)
- Deep expertise in:
- Job costing
- WIP / % of completion accounting
- Project-based forecasting
- Proven ability to partner with and influence operational leadership
- Strong financial acumen across both P&L and balance sheet
- Leadership experience with ability to develop teams
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and business judgment
Preferred Background
- CPA certification
- Experience in high-growth or complex project-based environments
- Exposure to:
- Surety relationships / bonding
- Contract review and risk management
- Experience driving process improvement or finance transformation initiatives

Compensation
- Base salary: $170,000 – $210,000
- Target bonus: 30% (historically strong payout)
