Key Responsibilities of the Revenue Accountant:
In this important role, the Revenue Accountant will support the accounting department’s daily operations and help ensure accurate revenue recognition and financial reporting. Responsibilities include:
• Revenue Recognition: The Revenue Accountant will analyze contracts and transactions to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Month-End Close: Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, revenue reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain revenue-related schedules and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Account Reconciliations: The Revenue Accountant will perform detailed reconciliations of revenue accounts, deferred revenue, and related balance sheet accounts.
• Internal Controls: Assist with maintaining and improving controls surrounding revenue processes and financial reporting.
• Audit Support: Coordinate schedules and provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits related to revenue transactions.
• Forecasting & Analysis: The Revenue Accountant will support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts by providing revenue-related insights and reporting.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, operations, billing, and finance teams to ensure accurate revenue transactions and reporting.
Qualifications for the Revenue Accountant Role:
To be successful as a Revenue Accountant, you should bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification or CPA track preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on revenue accounting or general ledger accounting.
