Senior Accountant
Location: Bloomington, Indiana

Salary: $75,000–$90,000
Position Overview
A leading service-based organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team in a hands-on role supporting the organization’s financial operations. This position will take ownership of key accounting functions and play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, a solid understanding of the full month-end close process, and hands-on experience with fixed assets, depreciation, journal entries, and account reconciliations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working independently while partnering with leadership and other departments.
Key Responsibilities

Own and manage the full month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries.

Perform detailed general ledger accounting, including account analysis and maintenance.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.

Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and account reconciliations.

Review financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and unusual variances.

Assist with monthly financial statements and management reporting.

Support the accounting team with accruals, prepaids, intercompany activity, and other GL-related responsibilities.

Maintain accurate documentation and support internal and external audit requests as needed.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.

Partner with internal teams to research and resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
Qualifications

4+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting.

Experience with fixed assets and depreciation.

Strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
