Senior Accountant (nonprofit)
Location: Boston, MA – 2 days/week in office
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000
CFS is partnering with a mission-driven organization in seeking an Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of their philanthropic and donor-advised fund programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day accounting operations of the Philanthropic Asset Services team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions.
- Review and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of adjusting and closing entries.
- Manage reporting related to donor-advised funds, endowments, assets under management, and other philanthropic programs.
- Review contribution and disbursement activity, including wire transfers and fund distributions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting.
- Coordinate audit requests and assist with annual external audit activities.
- Review donor reporting and account statements for accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within nonprofit or fund accounting environments.
- Experience with donor-advised funds, endowments, or charitable giving programs is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical abilities, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
