Senior Accountant
Location: Boulder, CO (Hybrid)
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 + Bonus
Position Summary
A growing renewable energy company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting the accounting activities of a portfolio of operating entities and development projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger accounting experience, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Accountant:
Accounting & Month-End Close
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Analyze financial results and investigate account variances.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
Financial Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Entity & Project Accounting
- Support accounting activities across multiple entities and projects.
- Track project-related expenditures and capital investments.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Audit & Compliance
- Support annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
- Assist with tax and regulatory reporting requirements.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist with system enhancements and reporting efficiencies.
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close procedures.
- Experience with account reconciliations, financial analysis, and general ledger accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills.
Preferred
- CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience with multiple entities, consolidations, or project accounting.
- Experience within renewable energy, real estate, infrastructure, construction, or other project-based industries.
- ERP experience, including NetSuite or similar systems.
