Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid/On-site (Confidential – Mid-Atlantic Region)
Compensation: $85,000–$100,000 base + comprehensive benefits

About the Opportunity

They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team and play a key role in month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and cross-functional financial support. This role offers excellent exposure to leadership, international accounting, and operational finance.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Balance Sheet Oversight
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies, including coordination with financial institutions as needed
- Research and explain journal entries and budget variances during close
Payments & Expense Management
- Manage the payment process for a corporate ePayables program, including vendor activity tracking and reporting
- Oversee the company-wide expense reimbursement system:
- Review, audit, approve, and process employee expense reports
- Maintain employee data and system integrity
- Enforce corporate reimbursement policies
- Configure system rules to automate compliance and audits
International & Regulatory Accounting
- Maintain the general ledger in SAP for both:
- Internal fiscal year reporting
- Statutory calendar-year reporting in compliance with local regulations
- Partner with external auditors to support the annual statutory audit close
- Manage annual 1099/1096 filings
- Support Sales & Use Tax filings and required U.S. government and census reports
Cross-Functional & Project Support
- Cross-train in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit & Collections, and Cash Applications to provide operational backup
- Assist with annual budget preparation, departmental budget updates, and monthly reporting
- Communicate directly with department heads regarding budget-to-actual variances
- Support additional finance projects as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
- Solid understanding of accounting systems and financial reporting
- Working knowledge of SOX controls
- Experience with SAP, HFM, and Concur is highly desirable (but not required)
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working cross-functionally
