Senior Accountant

Location: Ridgefield, CT — Onsite (with occasional flexibility)
Salary: $80,000–$100,000
Title: Senior Accountant

About This Senior Accountant Opportunity:

CFS has partnered with a growing healthcare organization to identify a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys more than traditional accounting and wants to play an active role in modernizing processes, improving financial reporting, implementing new technology, and helping shape how a Finance department operates.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will have exposure across accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, systems implementation, process improvement, and financial analysis. The organization is undergoing several exciting initiatives, including a Sage Intacct implementation, chart of accounts redesign, increased automation, and expanded use of technology and AI within Finance.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is curious, driven, tech-savvy, and eager to take ownership while continuing to expand their responsibilities within the organization.

Why This Senior Accountant Opportunity?

  • High visibility: Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership
  • Opportunity to help improve and modernize a Finance function rather than simply maintaining existing processes
  • Play an integral role in a Sage Intacct implementation and chart of accounts redesign
  • Gain exposure to automation, AI-supported Finance tools, and reporting modernization
  • Opportunity to take on increasingly complex responsibilities and expand your leadership exposure based on performance
  • This is not a role where every day looks the same — you’ll have exposure to accounting, FP&A, systems, operations, and strategic Finance initiatives
  • Join an established, independent healthcare organization with deep expertise and a long-standing presence in the communities it serves
  • Primarily onsite during the initial onboarding, implementation, and transition period, with the potential for a hybrid arrangement based on demonstrated performance and business needs

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Support the monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and financial statement preparation
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, budget-to-actual reporting, and variance analysis
  • Partner with operational and department leaders to provide context around financial results and help improve financial accountability
  • Support financial reporting related to departments, programs, grants, restricted funds, service lines, and organizational initiatives
  • Play an active role in the organization’s Sage Intacct implementation, including data cleanup, testing, documentation, training, and go-live support
  • Assist with the redesign of the chart of accounts and financial reporting structure, including departments, programs, funds, grants, cost centers, dimensions, and workflows
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Utilize technology, automation, and approved AI tools to enhance financial analysis, reporting, documentation, and Finance workflows
  • Support financial analysis related to revenue cycle, reimbursement, billing, collections, payer trends, and other healthcare-related financial activity
  • Assist with annual audits, supporting schedules, compliance reporting, internal controls, and documentation
  • Work closely with the CFO and Finance leadership on special projects, process improvements, and department-wide initiatives
  • Build relationships across Finance, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and leadership while developing an understanding of the organization’s broader financial operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
